Army of Northern Virginia 4th Bunting Issue
The Richmond Clothing Depot was established in late 1861 as a manufacturer of uniforms, shoes, accouterments and flags for the Confederacy. In the course of the war, there were several wool bunting flag issues. The 4th bunting flag was issued in May of 1864. It was a 51" square flag featuring the thirteen stars of the St. Andrew's cross.
For a detailed description of this issue, visit The Flags of the Confederacy web site, edited by Devereaux Cannon, Jr., and read the excellent article by flag historian, Howard M. Maudaus. There is also an illustration by Wayne J. Lovett. Click HERE for a link to the site.
